The Allegany County Department of Heath WIC program will start issuing farmers market checks again in June! Many of you may already be aware of this option at WIC. For those participants who are new however or haven’t heard about this part of our program here’s how it works. Starting on June first you will have the option as a WIC participant to receive one set of Farmer’s Market produce checks in addition to your food package. As a participant you may only receive one set of checks per household per year. The checks come in a set of six $4.00 checks that can be cashed at any participating New York State farmer’s market to purchase fresh, local produce.
