Did you know?

Did you know that just like there are universal public symbols for male and female restrooms, telephone locations, escalators, and transit locations (etc.) there is also a universal symbol for breastfeeding? Well here it is!

The symbol was created in 2006 by Matt Daigle in response to a design contest hosted by Mothering Magazine. According to Mothering Magazine the International Breastfeeding Symbol is now used all over the world to show supportive, safe places for women to breastfeed. The symbol really translates to the phrase “breastfeeding welcome here.” The sign is not meant to segregate breastfeeding, but rather to integrate it into our daily lives by providing better public accommodations for this natural part of life. So, no that you know, keep your eyes peeled for this welcoming symbol.
