Physical Activity, Sedentary Behavior and Screen Time Guidelines for children under 5

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released new guidelines for physical activity, sedentary behavior and screen time for children under 5 years old. Being aware of these guidelines can help parents create healthy routines for there young ones .

Infants (less than 1 year)

Activity
Spend at least 180 minutes of physical activity throughout the day
Screen Time
Sedentary screen time is not recommended (1 year old)
no more than 1 hour sedentary screen time (2 years old)
Sleeping (including naps)
11-14 hours of sleep

Children (1-2 years of age):

Activity

Screen Time
Sedentary screen time is not recommended (1 year old)

11-14 hours of sleep

Children (3-4 years of age)

Activity
At least 180 minutes of physical activity with at least 60 minutes of it as moderate to vigorous intensity throughout the day
Screen Time
No more than 1 hour of sedentary screen time
Sleeping (including naps)
